Guest Author Yazmin Subha

Hi Honoria.

Thank you for having me over to visit. As you know, I am really excited at the moment because I have had my first ever release, Wildfire came out on 24th August with Breathless Press.

Here's the blurb and an excerpt.

Blurb:

Braden has searched all his life for the one who will help him regain his humanity and give him absolute power. One bite and he knew Millie was the one he had been searching for. Millie, a fiery red head is the last one in the line of high born witches who would rather die than give herself to this vampire. After all he killed her mother for her blood as well, didn’t he?  But in a twist of fate Millie learns too late what the truth is. But will death be the only thing that unites them?

Excerpt:

Millie knew this wasn’t a good idea. Brad wasn’t a man one could say no to. It was a stupid idea to hide in the carwash. She prayed no one would want to wash their car at three AM as she squeezed between the rollers. Her heart beat fast. She took a gulp of air and then blew it out to try to calm herself.

No footsteps could be heard, only the soft whistle of the trees as they swayed in the warm night air. She relaxed her shoulders and sighed. Maybe Brad had decided to no longer pursue her. Maybe that blonde with the big boobs had caught his attention at last, and he had gone off with her to a quiet spot to find out if they were real or not.

Wait a few more minutes, she told herself.

After a few minutes she pried herself out and took a step over the roller by her knees. All of a sudden the whir started and the rollers began to move. What the hell. How… Her mind ran on ahead of her. The soap was dispensed and the rotation of the rollers caught her attention. The darkness did not help; the route out wasn’t clear. The rollers in front of her whipped against her and sprayed suds and warm water that soaked her silk dress so that it clung to her.

She leaned back and tried to gain a hold of something to anchor her. Damn him. How had he found her? She knew there was something strange about him when he happened to be near her all the time. Even when he was across the room, within a blink of an eye he came to stand next to her—in her space.

The warm water, combined with the sensation of the soft, soapy bristles tantalized her skin. The rollers brushed against her and sent electrical currents to her clit. Hell…how could she be getting turned on by this?

Something warm blew across her face. A silent kiss…an unknown hand…lingered on her cheek.

Got you! The voice was in her head.

How can that be? she thought. She shook her head to get rid of the fuzziness caused by the water as it cascaded over her body. Warm hands caressed her breasts. Her senses heightened as one unknown hand stroked down to the juncture between her legs. The fingers flicked and pressed her sensitive clit and a wet tongue licked at her neck. She was lost to the sensations all round her. How could he do this? She felt him near, but he wasn’t there. How? The fingers stroked harder and she could not help but arch into the hand.

Mine alone. Open for me. Let me in come into you. His command was as urgent as the brushes that stroked her skin. At last he emerged before her—tall, broad, and dark. His mouth came down on hers and their wet lips met. Their tongues danced as his hands pulled her to his chest. He stroked her ass and pulled up her dress. She shivered against him.

Well I hope your readers like the sound of that.

Up and Coming Works.
I am waiting for edits for book 3 of the Blood Bar Chronicles anthology due out later this year with Breathless Press. My story is called 'Logan's Captive.' Also in the edits queue is 'Gypsy Butterfly' which is part of Eclipse of the Blood Moon anthology with Evernight Publishing and Breathless Press have also said yes to another book called 'Guardian Awakening' so I am waiting for all that to come through. This book is intended to be first in a series of three, so I need to rework the second book and start thinking about the third.

Here's a little bit about me:

Yazmin Subha is a busy mother of two children, whose husband has got used to her sitting tapping away on her laptop. By day she sits at her job, all respectable and prim but by night she is imagining feisty heroines and sexy alpha males.

She is a British author who grew up with a love of reading. Books created other places, times and worlds to visit. It was the desire to try to write that saw her pen her first short story as a teenager. But then everyday life got in the way and it was only recently that she began scribbling again. Encouraged, or rather dragged screaming and kicking by her critique group UCW she decided to ‘have a go’.
Her teenage dream is finally coming true.

Well Honoria, thank you for letting me visit! I hope to come again.

Love

Birthday Post

*Note: If you're not a make up junkie, you won't give a shit about this post.*

Yesterday was my birthday. It was pretty nice. I spent the day at school (which, blek, who wants to do that) but I did get a manicure and a pedicure so that was fun.

Megan canceled on me for shopping and mom had work (oh, how I miss my buddy Lindsey. I could have packed her ass out to Frisco even if I just gave her 20 minutes to get dressed. Nope, now my friends have lives.) Also, I needed gas so I just decided to order make up online. I ordered from Sephora and MAC. I've been building a list of the items I wanted for a while, because I'd rather make a run out to Frisco and look at them instead of order online, but when laziness takes over, free second day shipping is your friend.

So, in true birthday fashion, here is the brag of shit I got (*cough* blew my own money on):

Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick (this is one of those products I really should have seen in person before purchasing)

Eye shadows:
Satin Taupe (a classic, so I'm not worried)
Contrast (hopefully the deep navy blue I wanted)
and Steamy (which is like a deep sea blue green. Hopefully)

I only bought one thing at Sephora, but I made out like a freaking bandit, because first off, you get three free samples anyway, and then I used 100 of my points on a lip gloss and you get a birthday gift. So I got:

Yves Saint Laurent/ ROUGE VOLUPTÉ in #30 Faubourg Peach (The only item I actually purchased)

Samples:

Korres Quercetin & Oak Age-reversing Primer
Boyfriend Billionaire Boyfriend
DKNY Be Delicious (And this is supposed to be four samples of different fragrances)
Bite Beauty Lip Shine (my points)
Benefit Cosmetics/ Hello Flawless! Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation deluxe sample in 'I'm Pure 4 Sure' Ivory (I had a coupon for this sample)
Happy Birthday Beautiful U.S. Only Fresh Sugar Kisses Mini Lip Duo

Then I went to my local mall. I got six mini Bath and Body Works candles and coffee. Then I went to the Lancome counter and got a foundation and bronzy colored lipstick (it's called Mars). The woman also did all my make up for me, except the eyes. I had to take it off though, because Lancome's make up remover is like dipping your face in perfume. I shit you not. In fact I was worried for a minute that she'd used perfume, but it says make up remover on the bottle so...No, that's just how that stuff smells. Fragrance isn't good for your skin, and the smell was giving me a headache, so it had to go.

Sooo, I spoiled myself big time, and now MUST finish my book, because I wasn't supposed to do any make up buying until I had. Whoops. Birthday go here before I finished. Don't look at me like that. I know it's wrong.

And for birthday dinner we had baked ziti and cheesecake pie. Tonight we're having pizza with Italia sausage (one left over from the baked ziti).

Thus concludes my boring birthday post. Now I'm going back to laundry. I'm washing the bedding, and right now I'm on the bedspread, so kitty has the run of the bed and its nice cool sheets. But that's all about to change *evil laugh*.

Bringing A Gargoyle to Life - Dianne Hartsock

Bringing a Gargoyle to Life

We all seem to love the magical, fantastical creatures of fantasy. But how does one breathe life into such a being, have him step from our imagination into reality and be accepted by a reader?

In my m/m erotic fantasy ‘Philip’s Watcher’, my hero Adrian is a stone gargoyle on the walls of the castle, guardian to the young heir Philip. To involve the reader and make Adrian’s part more believable, I began with Philip. I wanted to gain sympathy for the young heir right from the start, so when he accepts Adrian the reader would also.

Philip turned his head, hoping to catch a response to his outrageous statement. The stone remained cold, and a fey mood came over him, desperate.

“You remain silent?” His gaze swept the heights of the castle. Dozens of statues stared down at him or looked out over the land his family protected. He laughed, and it sounded bitter to his ears. Rain pelted the castle and struck his face, and Philip railed against a fate he had no control over. Was he a mere puppet in this war for power? He had seen his family killed one by one. Would he be next?
In defiance, he climbed up on the balustrade and opened his arms. The storm seemed to increase in fury. Rain pounded against him, the wind seemed bent on pulling him from the wall. He shouted and shook his fist at the sky.

“If I fell, Gargoyle, would my Watcher catch me?” Rainwater poured from the spouted demons on the towers down to the valley far below. Mother had said he had a Watcher, a protector given to him at birth, but he’d never seen him. Never felt his presence. Alone, bereft, Philip wondered if he shouldn’t step off the edge…

At once a blanket of warmth engulfed him. He was cherished, guarded, needed. And beneath that he sensed love, deep and pure.

“Come down.” A voiced thrummed inside him, full of fear. Philip climbed onto the balcony and stood with his back to the storm. He hung his head, ashamed of the childish, dangerous act.

After this, I wanted to bring Adrian from stone into living flesh. I really wanted to keep away from the flash and glitter of movies. So I had it happen without magic at all, but by a ‘gift’ all watchers possess, part of their nature.

Adrian waited, his stomach churning with worry while the storm passed overhead and dwindled into the south. When he was certain Philip wouldn’t return, he rose from his crouch and stretched his arms to the sky. His black wings spread out behind him with a soft rustle.

He ran a hand through his thick hair and drew a breath, weary to his bones. Nothing had gone right. Jonathon shouldn’t have died. The fact that Philip and he had warned him of the danger in leaving the stronghold didn’t make the man’s loss any less tragic. True, those who would spread darkness in the world had brought the war to their doorstep by threatening Philip’s life. But Jonathon should have seen through the ruse and remained in the castle where his power was the strongest.

Adrian’s brow furrowed. Should he have gone with Jonathon, spoken with the wise woman? Silva had strengths of her own. As a child, Adrian had been cautioned against her magic, but he had come to respect her abilities. And she had always been kind to him, an orphaned, lonely boy. Would she be able to help him protect his darling Philip from this dangerous, unknown enemy?

Adrian touched the deep scar on his face and remembered the warmth of Philip’s fingertips. He followed the scar down his neck and left pectoral and trembled as he imagined Philip’s hands on him, their bodies entwined, urgent. He smiled sadly. “Fool, such happiness isn’t meant for you.”

So now we’ve seen Adrian become a living, breathing male. But have we engaged the reader, brought this gargoyle to life for them? I decided to make him as flawed as the rest of us, insecurities and strengths, joys and heartbreaks. A person we can relate to.

He caught his breath as wind rustled through the treetops, reminded of the day he’d sworn his life to Jonathon. They’d stood on the castle’s high walls in the sunlight while the breeze lifted his dark hair, cooled his hot skin.

“These are perilous times, Adrian. We need your strength,” Jonathon urged.

Adrian stared into the distance, his heart in agony. He was only seventeen! Young and fit, with the first taste of love lingering on his lips from his night with Jaimin. “You ask too much—”

He stopped speaking at the cold light in Jonathon’s eyes. The frosty tone of his voice sent a shiver through Adrian. “There’s light and dark in the world, my son. My clan has chosen to stand against the darkness, but we need Watchers to ferret the vile ones from the shadows and to keep our young ones safe. Do you count your life above the needs of the world?”

Ice dripped into Adrian’s heart. Jonathon had taken him in as a child when his parents died of the fever that had taken half the village. A black year. Adrian owed his life to the man. He bowed low, his dark hair sweeping the stones at his feet. “As you wish, lord,” he murmured while his heart broke for the life he would never have.

My story, Philip’s Watcher’ is about two young men caught up in a war neither is prepared for but find the strength to succeed in each other.

Philip’s Watcher

Blurb:

Darkness is spreading in the world with only the powerful Agenor family to oppose it. In the guise of a stone gargoyle atop the castle walls, Adrian has protected Philip, the young heir, sine birth, watching him grow from childhood into lonely adult hood.

When the clan chief, Philip’s father, is betrayed and murdered by those he trusted, Adrian resumes his human form to better safeguard Philip. As lovers, they fight against the darkness, but will their strength be enough to stem the dark tide sweeping the land?

In this battle for power, there can be only one victor.

There's really nothing to tell you...

A writing update. Except I haven't gotten a ton done. I've been working on my synopsis, which I'm actually pretty proud of that, because I avoid those like the plague (as many, MANY (if not all) writers do). I need to finish it today so I can have some writer buddies take a look at it and mock. Have I mentioned this will only be the second one I've ever written? I don't expect to have hella awesome skills.

After I finish that, I have a sex scene to write, which I seem to be taking all the steam out of. <Rolls eyes> I hate it when I do that, but it happens every once in a while. Don't ask me why. I'll fix it! Then I have the large plot point I skipped that must be finished. And then on to finishing the edits and changing things on the computer. I edited things as a hard copy because it's just easier to spot things, and more portable than my big honkin laptop. Also, there's just nothing like marking up your manuscript with a red pen. Track changes doesn't compare.

Anyway, I'm going to get some writing done now. Or napping. Or reading.

*Waves*

Figured I'd give everyone a quick update, since this blog needs an update. I think I'll be doing more with it again. For a while anyway, because if anyone has actually followed this blog from its beginning you know that I'll blog for a while, and then I'll fall of the wagon. But I've been doing these Facebook and Blog exchanges on FB and some I'm all inspired. We'll have to see if it lasts.

I'll be taking on guest bloggers Thursdays and Fridays, so hopefully they'll keep me on track and fill the void on the days when I just don't have jack shit to tell the world. I have one already. If you'd like to have a guest post on this site then email me at honoriaravena467@yahoo.com with the words Guest Post in the subject along with the date you want.

I'm also bringing back Man Candy Monday because who doesn't want that? And maybe a Six Sentence Sunday so you know what the heck I'm working on.

I'm trying not to get too crazy ambitious with it, because I'm in school and that makes it really hard for me to keep up with things, which I figured out last semester when I had a relatively small number of guest blogs and interviews to do myself and I could NOT keep up with them.

Since I'm in school writing has been interesting too. I'm trying to get up early and write and haven't quite made it. I'm on page 82 of 151 of my edits and as soon as I'm done with this post I'm going to make some tea and go do some rewriting. Oh, and I need to set up a Man Candy Monday.
